What is Stories of U?

Stories of U is a University of Miami initiative to collect and share snapshots of the lives of our alumni.

Is there a cost to share my story?

No. Stories of U is not a fundraising effort, although we are hopeful that 100% of our alumni give back.

Is Stories of U only for celebrities or high net worth individuals?

Not at all. It is our goal to collect and share the stories of all our alumni and their families. We only ask that your story be honest and from the heart.

How can I prepare for recording?

It’s easy to get started: just download our Question Guide.

Can I share my recording with family members or friends?

Absolutely. Stories of U can be monologues, but we prefer conversations between you and your loved one or colleague.

Can I submit a photo instead of a recording to tell my story?

Yes, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Will my story be made public?

Yes, your story will be shared online and perhaps used in printed materials.

How long should I make my recording?

However long you need to tell your story; however, most videos will most likely be edited to 5-10 minutes. Before you start, we suggest you download our Questions Guide. You’ll find it helpful in collecting your thoughts.

How can I share my story?

Submit your stories online or send us your photo, audio or video recording to alumni@miami.edu. Interviews can be conducted by phone or Skype or scheduled in person at the UM campus.
